How to Grow Huge Marijuana Buds

Growing marijuana is not a simple process. It takes four months from seed to finished product. And it must be said that only experienced growers get the best buds. There are a number of things that can be done to increase the size of the marijuana buds. The goal of growing marijuana is to generate large buds for enjoyment. The following are 7 of the best ways to grow huge marijuana buds.

Step One – The Seeds

Step one is to choose the best quality seeds available. High quality seeds will invariably result in large, high quality buds. Choose a well-established vendor online. Note that some strains are more suited for outdoor growth and do not do as well indoors. There are now a number of online sites where you can get high quality seeds from.

Step Two – The Fertilizer

The seeds need nutrients to grow. Without the best fertilizer, the plants will not get the appropriate supply of nutrients in order to be able to produce huge buds. The most important nutrient that plants require is Phosphorus. A mix of NPK 10-30-10(Nitrogen Phosphorus Potassium – NPK) is recommended among the growing community. Another option is to use wood ash with water, if you are looking for a purely natural solution. This contains large amounts of Phosphorus.

Step Three – The PH Levels

It is important to monitor PH levels and keep the PH at the correct point for maximum marijuana growth. What is interesting is that each nutrient behaves differently at different PH levels. The PH actually decides how the nutrient will act. Though this is not an exact science, the PH level should be around 6 to get the balance right. The plant will be able to tolerate levels between 5.8 and 6.5, though these levels are different for hydroponic operations.

Step Four – The Lights

Lighting is the most important factor in growing marijuana. Without some form of light, plants will not grow. Make sure your plants get enough light for the appropriate periods. When theplant is in the flowering stage it needs 12 hours of light followed by 12 hours of complete darkness. This stage is very important as it is the stage at which the plants actually grow and will determine the size of your buds. And it may not be a bad idea to get the most powerful light you can afford, though there is a point at which the plants cannot absorb any more light, no matter the intensity.

Step Five –  Temperature and Humidity

The temperature and humidity levels need to be just right in order for the buds to be as large as they can be. This can be tricky to get right. A 10ºC difference between daytime and nighttime temperature can harm the plants. In the seedling stage, the temperature should be around 65-75ºF (20-24ºC) with 60% humidity. For the adult stage with lights on, the temperature should be no higher than 80ºF (26.6ºC). Decrease humidity 5% each week from the seedling stage until it reaches 40%. For adult plants in the lights out stage, the temperature should be around 62-72ºF (17-22ºC)

Step Six – Manipulate Plant Structure

This technique is also known as Low Stress Training in the Cannabis world, as it involves no stress but results in larger plant buds. It is a way of moving your plants so that they grow flat and wide instead of tall and thin. When tall and thin the plants can bend. In this way, all of your plants will receive even light coverage, and light is fundamental for plant growth. The leaves of the plant can be thought of as mini solar panels, taking in light energy and converting it into large buds for consumption. It is important to get angles correct so that all plants are getting the maximum light possible.

Step Seven – Carbon Dioxide

Increasing the amount of carbon dioxide the plants are ingesting will significantly increase the size of the buds. Plants needs CO2 as much as humans need oxygen. You can expect nearly double the yield when you increase the CO2 along with increasing the wattage of your lighting system. The CO2 helps the plant take in more light and convert more energy. This can be a somewhat expensive process but it is worth it if you are growing many plants.

Follow the Seven steps above and you will be well on your way to large buds and an enormous yield on your marijuana growing operation. It may take a while to get everything to work in sync as there are many variables, but with consistent effort and attention to detail the size of your buds will be huge.
